Why people choose to work at Purolator

Several front-line postings refer to a collective agreement and show the hourly rate it sets, including the top rate you can reach with seniority. That makes it easier to see where a job can lead before you apply.

Several warehouse roles are open to beginners. Sorter and driver helper postings state that specialized education is not required and that no experience is necessary.

A courier utility posting in Burnaby listed $22.12 per hour as per the collective agreement, $25.07 after four months and a top rate of $37.38 per hour after four years, for 40 hours a week. Rates differ by terminal and role, so always check the posting you apply to.

Requirements for warehouse and driving roles

Warehouse roles are physical. Sorter postings describe unloading freight from trucks onto conveyors, loading linehaul trucks and manually moving bulk items, often very early in the morning.

Driving roles have stricter conditions. The Burnaby courier utility posting asks for a valid Class 5 licence with three years of driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract. Some postings also require English proficiency because the work involves frequent communication with various stakeholders.

What to expect from the selection process

Purolator is an equal opportunity employer and provides accommodations during the recruitment process on request. If you need an adjustment for an interview or test, tell the recruiter when you are contacted.

Working conditions and benefits

Each posting describes the working conditions. The Ottawa driver helper posting, for example, lists outdoor and on-the-road work and loading and unloading packages of up to 70 pounds, while retail representatives handle customer service, scanning and cash reconciliation at a shipping centre.

Purolator’s postings say the company aims to provide a safe, healthy and supportive workplace, but its careers pages do not set out one benefits package for all roles. Ask the recruiter which benefits apply to your position, your hours and your terminal before you accept an offer.

The busiest period runs from November to late December. For the 2025 season, Purolator reported more than 3,000 access points for drop-off and pick-up and more than 500 electric vehicles in its fleet.

Some postings in autumn are temporary or seasonal, such as temporary retail representative roles. Read the job type carefully to know whether a position is permanent, temporary or on call.

Resume and interview tips

For warehouse and courier roles, keep your resume short and list shift work, physical jobs and any driving experience. Mention your licence class and how long you have held it.

In the interview, expect questions about safety, reliability and early starts. Give examples of working to deadlines, following procedures and handling heavy or repetitive work safely.

Common mistakes when applying

  • Applying for courier roles without the required licence or driving history.
  • Missing that a sorter shift starts at 2:30 a.m. or runs in the evening.
  • Applying to a temporary posting when you need permanent work, or to an on-call role when you need fixed hours.
  • Not keeping your driver’s abstract ready for driving roles.
  • Underestimating the physical side of the job, since some roles involve lifting packages of up to 70 pounds.

How to spot fake Purolator job offers

Apply only through careers.purolator.com, and never pay to apply, to be trained or to receive equipment. Purolator postings tell you to apply through its Careers Page.

Be wary of messages that offer a job without an interview, ask for gift cards or banking details, or come from personal email accounts. If you cannot find the job on the official site, do not send documents.
