October 18, 2026

Aldi jobs in 2026 are spread across a store network that keeps growing. On 2 October 2026 Aldi UK said it had 1,092 stores and would open or relocate nearly 30 more in the 10 weeks before Christmas, in places such as Orpington, Basildon, Newport in South Wales and Dumbarton.

Aldi says it employs more than 45,000 colleagues across the UK, over 28,000 of them hourly-paid store colleagues. Most entry-level roles are store assistants, stock assistants and store cleaners in shops, and selectors, warehouse operations assistants and drivers in the regional distribution centres.

The button below takes you to Aldi Recruitment, the company’s official UK careers site, where you can search current vacancies by location. Applications are made online there and are free.

Why Aldi jobs are worth considering in 2026

Store pay is the headline. From 1 April 2026 Aldi raised the rate for store assistants to £13.50 an hour nationally and £14.88 inside the M25, and Aldi says it is the only major supermarket to pay all colleagues for their breaks, which it values at around £1,500 a year for the average store colleague.

Investment is the other reason. In January 2026 Aldi set aside £370 million for new stores, targeting 40 openings during the year, and in May 2026 it began operating a new distribution centre at Bardon in Leicestershire that will employ around 1,000 people.

The most common roles at Aldi

Aldi Recruitment groups vacancies into stores, warehouse and transport, head office, area managers and early careers. These are the entry-level roles you are most likely to see.

Role Where What the job involves
Store Assistant Stores Serving at the tills, moving pallets of stock to the shop floor and helping customers, usually around 25 hours a week
Stock Assistant Stores Filling shelves and handling stock deliveries in the store
Store Cleaner Stores Keeping the sales floor and back areas clean; no formal qualifications needed
Selector Distribution centres Picking store orders in ambient, chilled or frozen areas
Warehouse Operations Assistant Distribution centres Supporting warehouse operations and stock handling
HGV and Class 2 Driver Distribution centres Delivering stock to stores with a Cat C+E or Cat C licence

Requirements for Aldi roles

For store assistant roles Aldi asks for people who are comfortable with numbers, reliable and willing to help the team. The store cleaner page says you do not need any formal qualifications.

Driving roles need a Cat C+E (Class 1) or Cat C (Class 2) licence, while driver apprentices must be at least 18 and hold a clean, full UK driving licence. Aldi does not publish a single minimum age for store roles, so check each advert.

How to apply for Aldi jobs step by step

The process for store and warehouse roles follows the same pattern and starts online. Aldi lists the stages on each role page, so it is worth reading them before you begin.

  1. Open the job search on Aldi Recruitment and filter by role and location.
  2. Read the advert for hours, shift pattern and pay.
  3. Complete the online application or upload your CV, including the hours you are looking for.
  4. Record the short video interview if you are invited to one.
  5. Attend a group or individual interview with an Area Manager, or with a Logistics Manager for warehouse jobs.
  6. Take part in the Aldi store experience or Aldi logistics experience, where you see the job in action.

The Aldi selection process

Each stage is designed so that both sides can check the role is a good fit. In the warehouse process, Aldi also checks numerical ability and attention to detail during the interview.

Aldi pay in 2026

Aldi announced its current store rates on 26 February 2026, effective from 1 April 2026, as part of a £42 million investment in colleague pay. The rates rise with length of service.

Store assistants Starting rate from 1 April 2026 With length of service
National £13.50 per hour £14.47 per hour
Inside the M25 £14.88 per hour £15.20 per hour

Night workers receive a premium rate and bank holiday hours are paid at 50% extra. Warehouse and driver roles have separate rates, which are shown in each advert.

Benefits Aldi lists for colleagues

Store colleagues get paid breaks, 28 days’ annual leave including bank holidays, company sick pay and a 24/7 employee assistance programme. Maternity, paternity and adoption leave apply after one year, and in January 2026 Aldi extended full maternity pay to 26 weeks.

Warehouse colleagues also have workplace pension contributions, a digital GP app, a discounted health cash plan, gym discounts and a bike-to-work scheme. Aldi also offers long service recognition and, for warehouse staff, a possible sabbatical after five years.

Where Aldi is hiring

New stores create local vacancies wherever they open. The pre-Christmas 2026 list also includes Malton, Ashford, Matlock, Wimborne, Stepney Green, Epsom and Wellington, plus relocations in Sudbury, Sutton Coldfield and Wigan.

Warehouse jobs are based at Aldi’s regional distribution centres, which the careers site puts at 11, and at the new Bardon site. Aldi says Bardon will serve nearly 350 stores once fully operational and that many staff are transferring from its Sawley and Atherstone sites.

CV and interview tips

State clearly how many hours you want and which days you can work, because the application asks and rotas are drawn up four weeks ahead. If you have worked in retail, hospitality or a warehouse, describe the pace and the tasks you handled.

At the Area Manager interview, give short, real examples of teamwork, reliability and dealing with customers. Use the store or logistics experience to ask questions about shifts and training.

If you are offered a store role, training normally lasts around six weeks and combines time with experienced colleagues, Aldi’s CheckPoints programme and an e-learning portal. Knowing this in advance helps you plan your first weeks.

Common mistakes when applying

People often apply for a driving role without the right licence category, skip the video interview invitation or treat the store experience as optional. Applying for more hours than you can actually work is another common problem, since store contracts range from 10 to 40 hours a week.

How to spot fake Aldi job offers

Aldi’s careers site carries a clear warning: Aldi never charges fees or asks for personal data such as bank details at any stage of recruitment or onboarding. Anyone claiming to represent Aldi in exchange for money or bank details is running a scam, and Aldi links to the Report Fraud service.

Look for vacancies only on Aldi Recruitment and be wary of job offers sent by text, WhatsApp or social media without any interview. If a message asks you to pay for training, a uniform or checks, do not reply and report it.
