DHL jobs in 2026: warehouse and driver roles in the UK and how to apply

October 18, 2026

DHL jobs in 2026 are concentrated in warehouses and transport, with new sites opening in the Midlands and the South West. In January 2026 DHL Supply Chain said a new Waitrose distribution centre it will run in Avonmouth, near Bristol, will create over 550 jobs, including 480 warehouse roles and more than 80 driver positions.

DHL works in the UK through several businesses. DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics arm, has more than 31,000 employees across the UK and over 320 warehouses, depots and offices, while DHL eCommerce UK runs more than 50 parcel depots and DHL Express handles international courier work. Typical entry-level roles are warehouse operatives, HGV and 7.5 tonne drivers, and couriers.

The button below opens DHL’s official careers site filtered to vacancies in the United Kingdom. You can search by city and division there and apply online at no cost.

Why DHL jobs are worth considering in 2026

DHL Supply Chain has announced several new UK sites with jobs attached. In March 2026 it announced that a Derby facility being turned into an online fulfilment hub for George at Asda is expected to create around 450 jobs, and in June 2026 it said a new automated healthcare hub at Infinity Park Derby is projected to create about 120 jobs.

DHL eCommerce UK opened a parcel hub in Coventry in February 2025, saying it would create up to 600 local jobs. Both Derby projects and the Coventry hub are in the Midlands, where many of DHL’s UK vacancies are based.

The most common DHL roles in the UK

When this guide was updated on 18 October 2026, most UK vacancies on the DHL careers site were with DHL Supply Chain, with a smaller number at Express and Global Forwarding. The table shows the roles that appear most often.

Role Division What the job involves
Warehouse Operative DHL Supply Chain Picking, packing and sorting orders, loading and unloading, and warehouse housekeeping
HGV Class 1 and Class 2 Driver DHL Supply Chain Delivering stock to stores and customers on day, afternoon or night shifts
7.5 tonne Driver DHL Supply Chain Multi-drop home deliveries, sometimes with installation of appliances
Courier DHL Express Collecting and delivering time-sensitive parcels in a local area
Parcel hub and depot roles DHL eCommerce UK Sorting and handling parcels in hubs and depots

Requirements for DHL roles

Warehouse adverts ask for speed, accuracy and willingness to work rotating shifts, and one Northampton advert states that previous warehouse experience is a plus but not a deal-breaker because training is provided. Experience with material handling equipment is listed as desirable in some adverts rather than essential.

Driving roles need the right licence plus a Driver CPC qualification and a digital tachograph card. For the Avonmouth Waitrose start-up, DHL says newly qualified HGV Class 1 drivers are welcome, while its 7.5 tonne roles ask for 12 months of recent experience. Some offers depend on a basic DBS check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

How to apply for DHL jobs step by step

All UK roles are advertised on careers.dhl.com, and Supply Chain applications continue on DHL’s UK and Ireland recruitment system. Have an up-to-date CV ready, because the form asks you to upload one.

  1. Open the DHL careers site with the United Kingdom filter and search by town, division or job type.
  2. Read the advert for salary, shift pattern, contract type and licence requirements.
  3. Click apply, complete the form and upload your CV.
  4. Look out for the automatic confirmation email and keep it.
  5. Answer messages from DHL’s virtual assistant, which can help schedule interviews.
  6. Track your application online until you hear about the next step.

The DHL selection process

DHL’s careers FAQ says interviews usually last between 30 and 60 minutes and involve someone from the business and someone from HR. Successful candidates then receive onboarding documents and a contract.

For driving roles, expect checks on your licence, CPC and tachograph card, and in some cases a basic DBS check and drug and alcohol test before you start. Roles at secure or sensitive sites can involve enhanced vetting.

DHL pay: what UK adverts show

DHL does not publish a single UK pay scale on its careers site, but each advert shows the rate. These examples come from DHL Supply Chain adverts live on its careers site in October 2026.

Role and location Pay shown in the advert
Warehouse Operative, days, Northampton £26,806 a year
HGV Class 1 Driver, Waitrose Avonmouth £20.03 per hour (06:00 to 14:00), £21.53 (14:00 to 22:00), £23.03 (22:00 to 06:00)
7.5 tonne Home Delivery Driver, Tingley £39,985.02 a year

Shift patterns differ as much as pay. The Northampton warehouse role works four days on and four days off from 06:00 to 18:00, while the Avonmouth driver contract is 48 hours a week over any five days out of seven. Compare the adverts near you before applying.

Benefits DHL Supply Chain offers

DHL Supply Chain matches pension contributions up to 8%, and its adverts describe an 8% employer contribution alongside a 4% employee contribution. Employees and their families can use free 24/7 GP appointments.

The benefits page also lists retail and lifestyle discounts, an employee assistance programme, a medical cash plan, salary finance loans and savings, free mortgage advice, enhanced leave and flexible working. Some sites add their own facilities, such as the free on-site gym advertised for the Avonmouth Waitrose operation.

Where DHL is hiring in the UK

On 18 October 2026 the cities with the most UK vacancies on the DHL careers site were Derby and Milton Keynes, followed by Rugby, Worksop, Daventry, Manchester, Skelmersdale, Bristol, East Midlands Airport and Northampton. The list changes as contracts start and end, so search by your own town.

The Avonmouth Waitrose site is due to open in early 2027, and DHL said recruitment would begin in spring 2026, so vacancies there are worth watching. DHL says the site will serve around 50 existing Waitrose shops.

CV and interview tips

Put your shift availability and any forklift or other equipment experience near the top of your CV, since warehouse adverts mention both. For driving jobs, list your licence categories, CPC expiry date and the type of work you have done, such as multi-drop or trunking.

In the interview, give examples of working safely, hitting targets accurately and adapting to a new site or process. Ask which client the site serves, as each contract has its own shifts and procedures.

Common mistakes when applying

Frequent mistakes include applying for a driving role with an expired CPC or tachograph card, overlooking a 4 on 4 off shift pattern and missing messages from the virtual assistant. Some people also apply through third-party sites and never reach DHL’s own system.

How to spot fake DHL job offers

DHL states that it will never ask candidates to transfer money in advance or buy services as part of recruitment. Its phishing notice lists warning signs such as unsolicited contact, recruiters using Gmail or WhatsApp, unusually high pay and requests for ID, bank details or fees.

DHL advises applying only through its official careers portal and reporting suspicious messages to the police and to its phishing team. Never pay a fee or send ID documents to a recruiter you have not checked.
