Amazon jobs in 2026 are mostly hourly warehouse roles, and pay is one of the main reasons people look at them. From 27 September 2026, Amazon raised minimum starting pay for its frontline operations roles to £15.10 or £16.10 an hour, depending on location.

Amazon says it employs around 75,000 people in the UK across operations, corporate and technology roles, and runs a network of over 100 operations buildings. The hourly jobs are in fulfilment centres, sortation centres, delivery stations and Amazon Fresh warehouses, mostly as warehouse operatives and sortation operatives.

Why Amazon jobs are worth considering in 2026
Amazon has been adding sites. In June 2025 it announced a £40 billion UK investment for 2025 to 2027, including new fulfilment centres in Hull and Northampton with around 2,000 jobs each, plus two more planned in the East Midlands.
In June 2026 the company said it had opened the Northampton fulfilment centre and that a cross-dock site in Kettering would open in autumn 2026, bringing its new jobs in Northamptonshire to more than 4,000. For Christmas 2025 Amazon recruited for more than 15,000 seasonal positions; no 2026 seasonal figure had been published when this guide was updated in October 2026.
The main Amazon warehouse roles
Jobs at Amazon groups hourly vacancies by the type of building. These are the three associate roles it describes for the UK.
| Role | Type of site | What the job involves |
|---|---|---|
| Warehouse Operative | Fulfilment centres of 600,000 to 800,000 sq ft | Picking, packing and shipping customer orders |
| Sortation Operative | Smaller sortation sites | Sorting orders by final destination and loading them onto lorries for last-mile delivery |
| Fresh Warehouse Team Member | Amazon Fresh warehouses | Receiving and sorting grocery stock, preparing orders and checking product quality |
Requirements and experience
Amazon states on its benefits page that you can join without any previous work experience in the logistics industry, and its roles page mentions free on-the-job training. What you do need is the right to work in the UK, shown with a share code or passport at a short video appointment.

Depending on the job, you may be employed by Amazon directly or by a hiring agency, which the advert will make clear. Check each listing for age and shift requirements before you apply.
How to apply for Amazon jobs step by step
Amazon UK no longer asks for a CV for these roles, so the application is mainly an online form and an assessment. Have your contact details and the shift times you can work ready before you start.
- Go to jobsatamazon.co.uk and search for vacancies near your town or postcode.
- Pick a role and compare the shift patterns, hours and pay shown in the listing.
- Create your candidate account and enter your basic personal details.
- Complete the online assessment and choose your preferred shift.
- Check your email: Amazon says it replies within 24 to 36 hours with the next step.
- Book and attend the virtual pre-hire appointment with your right to work documents.
The Amazon hiring process from application to Day 1
The company describes the stages for warehouse roles on its hiring process page. Some steps only apply to certain jobs.
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Application and review | Personal details, online assessment and shift choice |
| Interview (some roles) | A video interview, possibly a short extra assessment and a background check |
| Virtual pre-hire appointment | A 15-minute video call to show your right to work documents |
| Day 0 | A paid 3.5-hour onboarding and training session, ending with a health and safety test you must pass |
| Day 1 | Your badge (blue for fixed-term or permanent contracts, green for contract workers), a building tour and task training |
Amazon pay in 2026
Amazon announced in September 2026 that minimum starting pay would rise by 5.6% to £15.10 an hour, and by 5.2% to £16.10 in some locations, from 27 September 2026. That works out at £31,408 a year full time, or £33,488 where the higher rate applies, and it covers full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal roles.
Its benefits page adds that night shifts pay between £17.52 and £18.68 an hour and overtime between £22.65 and £30.83 an hour, depending on location and volume. Amazon notes that overtime and night rates can change at its discretion.
Shifts and contracts
A standard contract is a fixed 40 hours a week, and shifts are traditionally four 10-hour days, for example Monday to Thursday. Part-time contracts are also offered, and employees can swap shifts online or ask for a permanent change of schedule.
Benefits listed by Amazon
Amazon lists private medical insurance, life insurance, income protection and a company pension plan from the first day. Annual leave is up to five weeks plus bank holidays, and there is an employee discount that includes free Prime membership, plus 10% off eligible groceries from 1 October 2026.
For training, the Career Choice programme pre-pays courses in high-demand fields with an annual budget of £3,000. There are also cycle to work and interest-free season ticket loans of up to £10,000.
Where Amazon is hiring in the UK
Vacancies appear across the whole network, so the job search is the only reliable list. Recent official announcements named Hull, Northampton and Kettering, two further fulfilment centres planned in the East Midlands, and a new distribution centre in Peterborough expected to create more than 1,400 jobs. In the north east, Amazon runs a fulfilment centre in Darlington and is building a delivery station in Stockton-on-Tees.
Tips for the assessment and interview
Because there is no CV, the online assessment and your shift choice carry more weight. Answer the questions honestly and pick shifts you can genuinely keep, since the standard pattern is long days on fixed weekdays.
If you are invited to a video interview, find a quiet spot with a stable connection and have examples ready of working safely, following instructions and keeping up a steady pace. Have your passport or share code to hand for the pre-hire appointment so it does not need rescheduling.
Common mistakes when applying
Typical problems are applying through a website that only looks like Amazon’s, missing the email with the next step, and arriving at the pre-hire appointment without valid documents. Another is choosing a shift pattern that clashes with childcare or transport, so check the start and finish times before you select a shift.
How to spot fake Amazon job offers
Amazon says it will never charge you for a job and never asks for sensitive information during applications. Its UK FAQ adds that all official Amazon UK warehouse jobs are found only at jobsatamazon.co.uk, and suspicious messages can be reported through Contact Us using “Report suspected recruitment fraud”.
In an April 2025 update, Amazon said reported job scam cases rose 90% between January and March 2025, and that in 83% of cases scammers asked for upfront payment in cryptocurrency or gift cards. Unsolicited texts offering Amazon work are a common starting point.
