Tips for your UPS application and interview
Apply for a shift you can keep. The Mount Hope morning shift starts at 2:00 a.m. on Mondays and 4:30 a.m. from Tuesday to Friday, while evening sorts in Concord and Quebec City run from about 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 or 10:30 p.m.
For driving roles, request your driver’s abstract early so it is ready before the road test. In Quebec, mention your level of French, since several postings require it. In the interview, give short, concrete examples of physical work, reliability and customer service, the qualities postings ask for.
Common mistakes when applying to UPS
- Applying for a part-time job without the weekday availability the posting asks for.
- Expecting fixed hours: Quebec driver postings say hours depend on daily volume.
- Applying to drive with an abstract that does not meet the limits in the posting.
- Offering a two-door car or an open pickup bed for a personal vehicle driver role.
How to spot fake UPS job offers
UPS states on its jobs site that it is aware of scams using fake offer letters and that it does not charge an application fee or any other fee during the application process. Canadian openings are on jobs-ups.com/ca, and applications continue in UPS’s Workday portal.
The Canadian FAQ also says UPS Canada does not use contingent or temporary employees through a separate company or vendor. Treat an agency or social media account that offers a UPS Canada job with caution, and never pay for training, uniforms or equipment.
