Dollarama as an employer in Canada

Dollarama was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Montreal. It opened 75 net new stores in Canada in fiscal 2026, the year ended February 1, 2026, and 15 more in the quarter ended August 2, 2026. On September 16, 2026, it raised its fiscal 2027 outlook to 65 to 75 net new Canadian stores.

The annual information form sets a long-term target of about 2,200 stores in Canada by 2034. Dollarama’s careers FAQ says hiring for a new store usually starts about 40 days before it opens, using the same process as existing stores.

Stores averaged about 16 employees each in fiscal 2026, according to the ESG report Dollarama published in June 2026. The same report says 59% of store and field management positions were filled through internal promotion that year.

Most common Dollarama jobs in stores

The careers store search lists five store positions. It does not list separate cashier or stock clerk jobs: the store associate posting covers operating a cash register, unpacking shipments, stocking shelves, customer service and keeping the store clean.

Store associate jobs are permanent, either full-time (25 hours or more a week) or part-time (under 25 hours). Team leaders and assistant team leaders act as manager on duty and help train new employees, while store managers and their assistants oversee operations, inventory, scheduling and recruitment.

Can you get Dollarama jobs without experience?

Dollarama’s store careers page presents store jobs as a chance “to gain a first experience in the retail industry”. The store associate posting checked on October 22, 2026 lists no minimum experience. It asks for teamwork, a customer service focus, comfort in a fast-paced store and a schedule based on store needs.

The ESG report says many internal promotions in fiscal 2026 were to assistant team leader and team leader, which it calls entry-level store management positions that typically give associates access to higher hourly wages and full-time work.

How to apply for Dollarama store jobs step by step

Store associate, assistant team leader and team leader applications go only through the AppyHere mobile app, according to Dollarama’s careers FAQ. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play in Canada and the United States.

  1. Open Dollarama’s careers store search with the button on this page.
  2. Enter your address or use your current location, and choose a radius from 2 to 30 km.
  3. Filter by position and open a store that shows the role you want.
  4. Click Apply to read the job page, then continue in the AppyHere app.
  5. Create a candidate profile, select the area where you want to work and complete the selection steps.
  6. Turn on notifications and check My Applications in the app for updates.

Dollarama does not accept resumes handed in at a store. Without a smartphone, the FAQ says you can ask to use a device in a store, but a valid phone number is needed and updates arrive only in the app.

Assistant store manager and store manager applications

These candidates complete the online form on the careers website and attach a resume. Only selected candidates are contacted. District manager jobs, which oversee groups of stores, are posted separately on jobs.dollarama.com.

Dollarama pay: what the official figures show

The store postings checked on October 22, 2026 did not show a rate of pay; they say pay varies according to experience. Dollarama does publish average wages in its ESG report, and one district manager posting showed a salary range.

District Manager (Vancouver) posting $90,000 to $110,000 a year jobs.dollarama.com, October 22, 2026

The averages exclude benefits and premiums, and they are not starting rates. Pay for a given job depends on the province, the store, the role and experience. The annual information form states that no collective agreement covers Dollarama employees in Canada.

Benefits Dollarama lists

Store postings list the benefits below. Some depend on status or hours: the careers FAQ says benefits and RRSP plans are available to permanent full-time employees, and the ESG report says group insurance starts after a minimum number of hours worked.

  • Weekly pay, which the ESG report says applies at all levels
  • Paid vacation and birthday leave
  • Retirement plan
  • Group insurance, from basic health to dental benefits and telemedicine
  • In-store discounts
  • Paid training hours, mentioned on the main careers page

Distribution centre and warehouse jobs in Montreal

At February 1, 2026, Dollarama’s Canadian logistics network consisted of one distribution centre in the Town of Mount Royal, of 495,686 square feet excluding the mezzanine, and seven warehouses: three in the Town of Mount Royal, two in Lachine, one in Dorval and one in Laval.

Dollarama employed approximately 270 warehouse and distribution centre employees at that date. The annual information form explains that most staffing there is outsourced to third-party agencies selected by the company, which account for 3.5% to 5% of its Canadian workforce needs depending on volume and season.

On October 22, 2026, jobs.dollarama.com showed six distribution centre and warehouse postings: a senior manager in Mont-Royal, Quebec, and five roles in Calgary for the western logistics hub, which the company expects to be operational by the end of calendar 2027. The Calgary team leader and supervisor posting lists interviews from mid-October 2026 and a start date in the last week of January 2027.

Head office jobs in the Town of Mount Royal

The head office is at 5805 Royalmount Avenue in Montreal, and Dollarama reported over 685 head office and field management employees at February 1, 2026. On October 22, 2026, jobs.dollarama.com listed 28 head office postings, most of them in Mont-Royal, Quebec.

Examples included finance, inventory and cybersecurity analysts, SAP and BI developers, a quality control clerk and district managers for Chicoutimi, Quebec City and Vancouver. Some postings mention French and English skills.

Where Dollarama store jobs were posted

Quebec and Ontario had the most stores with open store postings on October 22, 2026. The table counts stores showing at least one store position in the careers store search that day.

Province Stores with at least one posting on October 22, 2026
Quebec 232
Ontario 164
Alberta 86
British Columbia 80
Newfoundland and Labrador 24
Nova Scotia 23
Manitoba 21
Saskatchewan 21
New Brunswick 21
Prince Edward Island 5

In total, 677 stores showed at least one posting. These numbers change daily as stores fill roles and new locations open.

Interview tips and common mistakes

Keep your AppyHere profile current. The FAQ notes that not all stores recruit at the same time, so accurate availability and an up-to-date area let the app alert you to matching postings. Before an interview, reread the posting and prepare short examples of helping a customer, handling a busy shift and learning a task quickly.

  • Handing in a paper resume at a store, which Dollarama says it does not accept.
  • Applying for a team leader role without the retail and team management experience the posting asks for.
  • Turning off app notifications and missing updates.
  • Expecting a quick transfer: associates must wait at least 90 days, and team leaders at least 12 months, before requesting another store.

How to spot fake Dollarama job offers

Dollarama’s employment fraud warning says neither Dollarama nor any agency it mandates will ask applicants to pay for travel, immigration, visas, processing or other costs. It also says no job offer is made without first meeting the candidate.

A request for your date of birth, social insurance number or bank details early in the process is a warning sign, according to the same notice. Apply only through dollarama.com, the AppyHere app linked from it, or jobs.dollarama.com.
